Bring real turn-of-the-century charm to your vanity with this petite Jennings Bros jewelry casket.
Maker & mark: Stamped JB 207 to the underside, attributed to Jennings Brothers, Bridgeport, Connecticut, a well known American maker of metal jewelry caskets and vanity pieces in the late 19th–early 20th century.
Era: Approx. c.1900–1920, Art Nouveau period.
Design: Raised pansy and scrolling foliate motifs with flowing Art Nouveau lines; four small pad feet; domed lid.
Material: Cast white metal (spelter) with silver-tone / pewter like finish.
Dimensions
Approx. 10 cm long x 8 cm wide x 5 cm high
Condition
Antique, heavily worn and distressed.
Hinge is broken, lid rests in place but no longer opens and closes properly.
Visible crack to one side and age related warping to the body.
Interior shows heavy wear, staining and old residue.
Exterior finish has rubbing, scratches and patina consistent with age.
Because of the structural issues this box is for decorative use only, not suitable for regular storage of jewellery or small items.
