The Mourning Rose — Antique A&Z 12K Gold Filled Jewellery Suite

A remarkable antique A&Z jewellery suite, comprising a matching necklace and bracelet crafted in 1/20 12K gold-filled metal with dramatic black onyx centrepieces and pearl accents.

Made by the historic A&Z Chain Company of Providence, Rhode Island, established in 1905, the set carries the A&Z 1/20 12K GF maker's mark and showcases the romantic Victorian influenced mourning aesthetic that continued into the early 20th century.

Both pieces feature beautifully intricate flexible mesh construction, radiating gold filled detailing and delicate floral ornamentation surrounding the black oval centres.

The set remains in exceptionally good antique/vintage condition. A very fine hairline crack runs through the black onyx centrepiece of the necklace and is barely noticeable when worn, but has been disclosed for accuracy.

A beautifully preserved matching historical jewellery suite and an unusual surviving example of early A&Z gold-filled work.
