Vintage Mid-Century Crushed Shell Elephant Sculpture

Beautiful vintage elephant sculpture constructed from a moulded crushed/compressed shell composite, with a wonderfully aged cream, tan and naturally mottled finish.

Featuring a raised trunk, large sculpted ears and dark inset eyes, the piece has an unusual organic appearance with visible variations throughout the shell material.

Similar shell-composite elephant sculptures are associated with mid-century decorative craft from the Philippines, although the exact maker and age of this piece are unknown.

22 cm high from foot to tip of trunk

26 cm long from tip of trunk to tail
